Flying Ants vs. Termite Swarmers
Know the Difference
Flying ants and termites are often mistaken for each other. While similar in size, they have several notable differences:
Flying Ant
- Pinched waist
- Long legs
- Elbowed antennae
- Two pairs of wings, rear wings smaller than front
- Wings have few well-defined veins
Swarming Termite
- Broad waist
- Short legs
- Straight antennae
- Two pairs of wings the same size and shape
- More and finer veins in wings create a lace-like appearance
